What was the Mahogany subdivision dispute in Manotick?
In 2007 Minto Developments proposed about 1,800 new homes in Manotick, later revised to about 1,400. Residents worried about the village's rural character, and Ottawa City Council rejected the plan in 2008. The Ontario Municipal Board approved it in 2009, and the approved plan has been under construction since.
As of · Updated
The 1,800 figure came against a Secondary Plan that provided for growth of only 250 houses by 2020. A town hall organized by the West Manotick Community Association in April 2007 drew over 2,000 people.
Wikipedia notes that extensive cooperation between Minto and the community resulted in the approved plan.
